Channels gather content from across the open social web.

Any account connected to the network, no matter the platform, can contribute to your Channel. To learn more about how to connect to different platforms, check out our FAQs.

Curate your Channel

Every Channel is unique - created solely by you.

The sources you choose will pull in content. The labels you add will narrow it down.

Shape your Channel’s culture by selecting accounts, hashtags, and specific keywords from across the open social web.

Choose the culture

Let your Channel flow with the wider conversation.

Open Channels gather relevant conversations, posts and news from across the open social web. All you have to do is choose your sources and labels.

  • Sources - Combine popular tags and expert voices whose posts will populate your Channel.
  • Labels - Add optional extra layers of curation to keep your Channel on topic.

Combining contributors and hashtags will make your open Channel a hub of public knowledge.

Let your Channel flow with the wider conversation.

Build your Channel

Sources

The first step in curating your Channel is choosing what to include.

Your Channel sources are the accounts and hashtags you don’t want to miss a post from.

Sources can be from anywhere on the open social web - that includes bridged Bluesky accounts, Fediverse sharing Threads accounts, and even RSS parrots.

Once you’ve chosen your sources, you’ve plugged your Channel into the open social web - watch it fill with content.

    Follow the parrot...

    group

Channels support open social web RSS, letting you feature hot-off-the-press news in your Channel. All you need to do is follow a parrot.

If you can’t find an existing RSS account for the feed you want, create your own on RSS Parrot, and follow it!

    Layers of protection

Your Channel sits safely behind a number of filters that ensure you’ll see the content you want, without seeing the bits you don’t.

    Safety

These are filters built by the Newsmast Foundation which prevent banned content.

    Curation

These are sources and labels you choose to bring specified content to your Channel.

    Tuning

These are filters you choose which prevent unwanted content on your Channel.
